We write about CAD file formats, technical drawing and what AI models can and cannot do with both, because those are the questions we spend our own working days on. The DXF, DWG and STEP files this product exports are written by code we wrote ourselves rather than by a third-party library, which is the reason an article here will tell you that a DWG is binary and a DXF is not, and then tell you exactly what that costs you in practice.
Format claims are checked against a real file. When an article says a format does or does not carry something — a unit, a layer, a solid body, a dimension — we have produced that file and opened it in the program the article names. Where a limitation is in the format specification rather than in one program's implementation, we link the specification.
AI capability claims carry a date. What a model can do with a CAD file changes with the model, so an answer about Claude or ChatGPT is only true as of a date. Those articles open with what we put in front of the model and when we last checked it, which is the thing you need in order to tell whether our answer is older than the summary that sent you here.
We say when our own tool is not the answer. Several articles here recommend Inkscape, ezdxf, the ODA File Converter or simply drawing it yourself, because for that particular job those are better. A page that recommends us for everything would not be worth reading.
Revisions are visible. Every article shows the date it was last revised, not just the date it first went up. If a page has not been revised, it says so by showing its original date.
